Bronx Honors Mexican Heritage with Vibrant Cinco de Mayo Flag Raising Ceremony

In a spirited celebration of culture and community, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson led a Mexico Flag Raising Ceremony yesterday at Bronx Borough Hall to mark Cinco de Mayo and honor the vibrant contributions of the Mexican-American community in the Bronx and beyond.

The event, held in collaboration with Essen Health Care, Swift Home Care, and the Mexican Consulate General of New York, featured a live mariachi performance that filled the air with traditional melodies, echoing the pride and resilience of the Mexican heritage.

“Our borough is defined by its rich diversity, and today we proudly celebrate the Mexican-American community whose cultural and civic contributions continue to shape the Bronx and New York City,” said Borough President Gibson.

Community members, local leaders, and organizational partners gathered to reflect on the values of unity, cultural pride, and legacy. The event also highlighted ongoing partnerships aimed at enhancing access to healthcare, cultural programs, and community advocacy.

The ceremony underscored the importance of embracing and honoring the cultural roots that strengthen the social fabric of the borough.
