Chess in the Schools tournament empowers 535 students in Bronx annual competition

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson proudly highlighted the success of the annual Chess in the Schools competition, held over the weekend, with 535 students showcasing their skills in the classic game.

In her statement, she emphasized the value of chess in fostering critical thinking and learning: “Chess in the Schools: Inspiring young minds! Over the weekend, we hosted our annual competition with a total of 535 students who participated, showcasing the power of strategy, focus, and learning through the game of chess.”

She also thanked the event’s partners: “Thank you to Chess in the Schools and P.S. 70X for your partnership in another successful tournament!” The event was a celebration of the students’ strategic thinking, teamwork, and academic growth.
