Council Member Sandra Ung Applauds Tomchei Shabbos of Queens Lifesaving Holiday Distribution

In the spirit of Passover, Tomchei Shabbos of Queens is ramping up its efforts to support hundreds of families in need — a mission that caught the attention of New York City Council Member Sandra Ung, who recently visited the organization during their annual holiday food distribution preparations.

“Tomchei Shabbos of Queens helps feed 400 families every week, and that effort is never more important than during Passover,” Council Member Ung stated.

She joined Shimi Pelman, President of Tomchei Shabbos, and David G. Greenfield, CEO of the Met Council, for a firsthand look at the dedicated work going on behind the scenes to ensure no family goes hungry during the sacred holiday.

“Thank you to these two amazing organizations for the work they do throughout the year to provide critical services and resources to some of the most underserved communities in our borough and across NYC,” Ung added.

The collaboration between Tomchei Shabbos of Queens and the Met Council has become a vital source of relief for many families, especially during festive periods when food insecurity often spikes.

Their commitment continues to make a meaningful difference in the lives of New Yorkers who rely on their generosity.
