Eric Adams Indictment: New Yorkers rally for justice, schedule Due Process demonstration for Monday

In a spirited show of solidarity, a coalition of diverse New Yorkers gathered for their inaugural strategy meeting on the evening of September 27, 2024, to champion the principles of due process and the presumption of innocence for Mayor Eric Adams, who faces recent legal challenges.

The supporters expressed a clear message, “Mayor Adams is not above the law and should not be below it either.” They emphasized that the calls for his resignation, largely echoing from rival mayoral candidates and those who have never backed him, obstruct the essential legal process and undermine his right to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

“Calls for his resignation that are mostly coming from those running for mayor and the ones who never supported him in the first place interfere with the due process and deny him the presumption of innocence,” they stated. The coalition firmly believes that the mayor is fully capable of executing his leadership responsibilities while his legal team addresses the ongoing case.

In a bid to galvanize support, the coalition is set to host its first rally advocating for the Mayor’s Due Process rights at Foley Square on Monday, September 30, 2024, from 12:00 to 1:30 PM.

“All those who support the mayor and the due process clause in the constitution are cordially invited to join in,” they declared. The coalition firmly contends that “calling for the removal of a duly elected official accused of crime without due process is illegal,” reiterating their commitment to uphold the foundational principles of justice.
