Flushing Council Member Sandra Ung Honors Longtime Community Leader Carlos Marrero on Retirement

Council Member Sandra Ung has recognized Carlos Marrero for his remarkable two decades of service to the senior community in Flushing. In a heartfelt statement, she highlighted the critical role he has played at B’nai B’rith, a senior housing facility that has served as more than just a residence—it has been a haven of community and stability for countless older adults.

“Flushing has one of the fastest-growing senior populations in the city,” said Council Member Ung. “And for our older neighbors to be able to age in place—to remain in the communities they helped build—requires more than just housing. It requires people like Carlos Marrero.”

For 20 years, Marrero has been a pillar of support at B’nai B’rith, known not only for his dedication but also for being the heart and soul of the community. As he enters retirement, Ung extended her sincere congratulations and best wishes for the next chapter in his life.

“Carlos has been the heart of B’nai B’rith and a constant source of support for the senior residents,” Ung said. “We are grateful for his service and wish him nothing but the best.”
