“Height of irresponsibility in hurricane response claims” — Kamala Harris unleashes on Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris has labeled the false claims of former President Donald Trump about the hurricane response as the “height of irresponsibility” and “callousness.”

Harris said this during a live interview, filled with raw emotion and urgency, highlighted the serious implications of Trump’s rhetoric amidst a national crisis.

The heated exchange began when Republican co-host Ana Navarro questioned Harris about Trump’s accusations that President Joe Biden was withholding relief funds from Republican areas to punish MAGA voters.

Harris responded with fervor, stating, “It’s profound, and it is the height of irresponsibility and, frankly, callousness, so lives are literally at stake right now.”

Harris recounted her recent visits to Georgia and North Carolina, where she surveyed the extensive damage caused by the hurricanes and met with the victims affected.

“You can imagine the pain, the shock that they are still in about what they experienced, what they witnessed,” she said, painting a vivid picture of the human toll the disasters have wrought.

The vice-president continued, emphasizing the gravity of the situation, “I mean, we’re talking about real human beings and their lives and them losing everything, everything. This woman lost her husband. Her child lost her father. People are losing their homes with no hope of ever being able to reconstruct or return.”

As she contrasted the plight of those suffering with Trump’s behavior, Harris criticized him for “playing political games for the sake of himself.”

She asserted, “He puts himself before the needs of others,” and expressed concern over Trump’s apparent lack of empathy. “I fear that he really lacks empathy, on a very basic level, to care about the suffering of other people and then understand the role of a leader is not to beat people down, it’s to lift people up especially in a time of crisis.”
