Mayor Adams Joins Malcolm X’s Family at NAN to Celebrate His 100th Birthday

In a heartfelt tribute to one of America’s most iconic civil rights leaders, New York City Mayor Eric Adams joined Reverend Al Sharpton and the family of Malcolm X at The National Action Network (NAN) to commemorate what would have been Malcolm X’s 100th birthday.

Taking to social media, Mayor Adams reflected on the significance of the moment, stating, “Honored to join Reverend Al Sharpton and the family of Malcolm X at The National Action Network to mark what would have been Malcolm’s 100th birthday.”

He emphasized the continued relevance of Malcolm X’s message and the importance of building on his legacy for present and future generations. “Our administration is committed to building on the legacy Malcolm X left behind so Black New Yorkers and their families across the five boroughs can thrive,” Adams affirmed.

The commemoration at NAN served as both a celebration of Malcolm X’s life and a reminder of the work that remains in the fight for racial justice, equality, and empowerment.
