NYC Celebrates Guyanese Heritage as Mayor Eric Adams Raises Flag at Bowling Green

In a vibrant display of cultural pride and unity, New York City Mayor Eric Adams joined community members on Thursday to raise the Guyanese flag at Bowling Green, honoring the enduring contributions of the Guyanese diaspora to the fabric of the city.

“From Little Guyana in Queens to Flatbush and Canarsie in Brooklyn, New York City wouldn’t be the same without the passion and hard work of our Guyanese community,” Mayor Adams declared during the ceremony.

The event, attended by dignitaries, cultural leaders, and residents, highlighted the deep-rooted presence of Guyanese Americans in neighborhoods across the city.

The flag-raising marks a symbolic gesture of recognition and appreciation for a community that continues to enrich the city’s cultural and economic landscape.

“Today, we proudly raised the Guyanese flag at Bowling Green to honor their invaluable contributions to our city,” Adams added.

New York City is home to one of the largest Guyanese populations outside of Guyana, and celebrations like these serve as a powerful reminder of the city’s diversity and the importance of inclusion.
