Two men shot in Douglaston attack

In a shocking incident that has left the Douglaston community reeling, two men aged 56 and 43 were shot while sitting in their vehicle at the northeast corner of Douglaston Parkway and the Long Island Expressway around 11 p.m. on October 5.

Witnesses reported that a light-colored sedan drove past the victims when two individuals inside opened fire, unleashing a barrage of 20 shots. The violence left the older man grazed in the stomach, while the younger victim sustained a serious gunshot wound to his right arm, resulting in the devastating loss of vision in his left eye.

Authorities have stated that the assailants were last seen fleeing the scene in their vehicle, and the police have characterized the shooting as unprovoked.

At this time, investigators are working to determine if there was any connection between the victims and their attackers, but details remain scarce. The community is now left in shock, grappling with the unsettling reality of such random violence.
