Bronx Hosts “Healing Together” Wellness Event for LGBTQIA+ Community, Promotes Connection and Self-Care

In a powerful show of support and solidarity, Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson led a successful wellness initiative titled “Healing Together: Mental Health and Wellness”, aimed at promoting mental health, healing, and self-care within the LGBTQIA+ community.

The event, held in collaboration with key healthcare and advocacy partners, brought together community members for an afternoon centered around connection, healing, and holistic well-being.

Taking to her official platform, Borough President Gibson expressed her pride in hosting the event, which fostered a welcoming and affirming space for all attendees.

“We were proud to host Healing Together: Mental Health and Wellness, bringing our LGBTQIA+ community together for an afternoon of connection, healing, and self-care,” she wrote.

The event featured interactive art, guided breathing exercises, and meaningful discussions that addressed mental health challenges and encouraged wellness practices within the community.

Gibson also extended gratitude to the event’s partners, which included the Bronx LGBTQIA+ Task Force, Destination Tomorrow, NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx, MetroPlusHealth, and Union Community Health Center.

“Special thanks to our incredible partners — Bronx LGBTQIA+ Task Force, Destination Tomorrow, NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx, MetroPlusHealth, and Union Community Health Center — for helping make this event a success,” Gibson noted.

“Together, we created a safe, supportive space focused on holistic wellness through interactive art, breathing exercises, and meaningful discussions,” she added.

The “Healing Together” event highlights the ongoing commitment of Bronx leadership and community organizations to ensuring inclusive mental health services and safe spaces for LGBTQIA+ residents across the borough.
