Indian cow vigilant group kills Muslim man over alleged beef consumption

A tragic incident has occurred in Haryana’s Charkhi Dadri district.

Sabir Malik, a Muslim migrant worker from West Bengal, India, was allegedly killed by a group of cow vigilant group.

The suspects, who have been arrested, allegedly attacked Malik on suspicion of consuming beef.

According to the police, the accused lured Malik to a shop, attacked him, and later took him to another location where they continued to beat him, resulting in his death. Malik, a waste collector, lived in a shanty near Bandhra village.

DSP Dheeraj Kumar stated, “A migrant laborer was beaten to death by some people. A case has been registered under BNS and 7 people, including 2 juveniles, have been arrested. The accused have been taken on police remand and are being questioned.”

When asked about the incident, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini downplayed the lynching, saying, “It is not right to say things like mob lynching, because a strict law has been made in the Assembly for cow protection and there is no compromise on it.”

He added that villagers’ respect for cows often leads to such incidents, which he described as unfortunate but did not explicitly condemn.

This incident is part of a larger trend of rising lynchings and mob violence by cow vigilantes in Haryana over the past decade. Earlier this year, two Muslim men from Rajasthan’s Bharatpur district were allegedly abducted and burned to death in a car in Haryana.
