Mayor Adams’ Campaign Denies Federal Job Speculation, Reaffirms Focus on “Getting the Job Done” for New Yorkers

Todd Shapiro, spokesperson for Mayor Eric Adams’ re-election campaign, has dismissed speculation linking the mayor to a potential federal appointment.

“Although Mayor Adams has been the most pro-housing mayor in New York City’s history, at no time did he ask for—nor was he offered—a job at HUD,” Shapiro stated.

He emphasized that the mayor remains focused on his work in the city, citing Adams’ announcement earlier in the day of a new life center at Hostos College.

“Over the last few years, the Mayor has shown his ability to block out the noise and stay focused on delivering for New Yorkers. He demonstrated that again today,” Shapiro said, adding that Adams looks forward to “another four years of delivering results for the people of this city.”

Shapiro concluded with a nod to precedent, noting: “And if the HUD job does open, Andrew Cuomo held that position before and can always continue where he left off.”
