Bronx Launches ‘Recovering Together’ Initiative to Tackle Opioid Crisis

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson has announced the launch of the ‘Recovering Together’ initiative, aimed at addressing the opioid epidemic and providing critical support to neighborhoods struggling with substance abuse.

Gibson emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in tackling this crisis, highlighting Mayor Eric Adams’ recent multi-agency operation targeting public safety and quality-of-life concerns at The Hub as a crucial step forward. However, she stressed that more must be done to address the root causes of addiction and related issues in high-risk areas.

She also expressed gratitude to the Third Avenue BID, Southern Boulevard BID, and local service providers, acknowledging their tireless work in supporting affected communities even after media attention fades.

Their ongoing commitment, she noted, is essential in driving real and lasting change in the Bronx.
