Mayor Adams Presents $115.1 Billion Best Budget Ever’ for NYC

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has released the Fiscal Year 2026 Executive Budget, a balanced $115.1 billion plan that makes significant investments in critical programs and services.

The budget prioritizes public safety, affordability, and education.

“Today, I am proud to present our Fiscal Year 2026 Executive Budget: Our ‘Best Budget Ever,'” said Mayor Adams. “This budget is a testament to our commitment to making New York City safer, more affordable, and the best place to raise a family.”

The budget includes $1.4 billion to protect critical programs previously facing spending cliffs and maintains funding for CUNY, cultural institutions, libraries, education programs, sanitation, and social services. It also launches the “After-School for All” initiative, which will bring 20,000 new after-school seats online in the next three years.

Additionally, the budget plans to have 35,000 uniformed officers by fall 2026 and invests in initiatives that benefit families and children, including universal after-school programs, early childhood education, supportive housing, affordable housing, and public safety.

The budget also includes a record-high $8.5 billion in reserves and a $173.4 billion 10-year capital plan to improve infrastructure and deliver transformative projects.
