Bronx Borough President Gibson Marks Two Years Since Israel Terror Attack, Calls for Peace and Hostage Release

Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson has marked the second anniversary of the deadly terrorist attack in Israel with a heartfelt message of remembrance, solidarity, and renewed calls for peace.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, President Gibson reflected on the tragedy that claimed numerous innocent lives and left lasting scars across communities worldwide.

“Two years ago today, the world witnessed a horrific terrorist attack in Israel that claimed the lives of innocent civilians and sent shockwaves across our Borough and world,” Gibson said. “We witnessed an unimaginable pain that is still being felt today as we grieve with the families who lost loved ones, those still in captivity, and the countless civilians suffering in the midst of conflict.”

She recalled meeting survivors, relatives of hostages, and soldiers who shared their experiences over the past two years, describing those encounters as deeply moving.

“Hearing these stories has reminded me of the resilience and strength of our Jewish communities during this painful time. We continue to demand the return of the 48 hostages who remain in captivity for their safe return,” she added.

Gibson also expressed hope that the ongoing ceasefire negotiations will bring lasting peace.

“I am praying that the ceasefire proposal currently being negotiated will result in freedom for the remaining hostages, everlasting peace for everyone, and an end to the war,” she said.

The Borough President concluded with a broader appeal for compassion and unity: “Let this moment remind us of our shared humanity and beliefs, and the urgent need for safety and peace.”

Her message comes as communities around the world commemorate the victims and renew global calls for an end to violence and the restoration of peace in the region.
