Congresswoman Greene defends Gaetz, claims GOP covers up sexual harassment, assault incidents with taxpayer fund

In a bombshell defense of Congressman Matt Gaetz, MAGA Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene has ignited a firestorm within her own party, suggesting that Republicans have systematically covered up a trove of sexual harassment and assault claims — some secretly settled with taxpayer money.

Taking to X (formerly Twitter), Greene challenged her GOP colleagues, accusing them of hypocrisy for supporting ethics reports aimed at Gaetz, while failing to expose other transgressions within their ranks.

“For my Republican colleagues in the House and Senate, if we are going to release ethics reports and rip apart our own that Trump has appointed, then put it ALL out there for the American people to see,” Greene wrote in a fiery post.

In a follow-up, she doubled down, asserting the existence of a slew of secret settlements and calling for the release of “all the ethics reports and claims including the one I filed — all your sexual harassment and assault claims that were secretly settled paying off victims with taxpayer money.” She continued, alluding to the notorious Jeffrey Epstein scandal: “The entire Jeffrey Epstein files, tapes, recordings, witness interviews … but not just those, there’s more, Epstein wasn’t/isn’t the only asset. If we’re going to dance, let’s all dance in the sunlight. I’ll make sure we do.”

Greene’s comments have sparked intense backlash, with critics accusing her of selectively disclosing explosive information solely as a weapon to shield Gaetz, who has faced allegations of child sex trafficking. Some have questioned why, if these claims hold weight, Greene would withhold such knowledge until it suited her political goals.

Greene’s statements pose a striking dilemma for Republicans: if her allegations are a bluff, many argue the Gaetz report should be made public to counter her claims; but if she is telling the truth, her accusations of institutional cover-ups may demand immediate investigation and disclosure.

The incendiary exchange exposes deepening fractures within the GOP, a party that, critics note, has faced repeated scandal over ethical misconduct, with figures like Donald Trump, an adjudicated rapist, leading its ranks.
