Council Member Sandra Ung Joins Flushing Residents to Celebrate World Tai Chi and Qigong Day

Flushing residents gathered at Margaret Carmen Park on Saturday morning to mark World Tai Chi and Qigong Day, an event celebrated in nearly 80 countries to highlight the benefits of these ancient practices.

Council Member Sandra Ung participated in the festivities alongside the NY Chen Tai Chi Academy and local residents, celebrating the importance of health, mindfulness, and movement.

“World Tai Chi and Qigong Day is recognized in nearly 80 countries to promote these two disciplines, which are gentle exercises that can improve balance, flexibility & over well-being,” Ung wrote. “They benefit people of all ages by reducing stress, strengthening the body, and promoting mental clarity.”

Ung emphasized the significance of maintaining such traditions within the community.

“Here in Flushing, I joined the NY Chen Tai Chi Academy and residents in Margaret Carmen Park on Saturday morning to celebrate health, mindfulness, and movement. Thank you to the NY Chen Tai Chi Academy for inviting me and for keeping these important traditions alive in Flushing!”

World Tai Chi and Qigong Day, observed annually on the last Saturday in April, continues to unite communities worldwide through practices that foster physical strength, mental clarity, and emotional well-being.
