Mayor Adams swears in Commissioner Tisch, emphasizes focus on crime reduction, safety

In a significant moment for New York City, Mayor Eric Adams introduced Commissioner Jessica Tisch as the new leader of the New York Police Department (NYPD) in a swearing-in ceremony earlier today.

Highlighting the city’s commitment to public safety, Mayor Adams expressed his confidence in Tisch’s ability to build on his administration’s mission of reducing crime and creating a safer New York.

“Since day one, creating a safer city has been our North Star,” Mayor Adams remarked, underscoring the administration’s top priority. “When picking our next NYPD Commissioner, it was crucial to find a battle-tested leader who will continue to drive down crime and lead us into the future.”

Mayor Adams believes Commissioner Tisch is uniquely equipped to handle the challenges facing New York City and expressed enthusiasm about her potential to guide the NYPD forward.

“Commissioner Tisch is that leader, and I was proud to swear her in today for her historic appointment,” he added. “Congratulations, Commissioner!”

Tisch’s appointment marks a milestone in NYPD history, and her leadership will be closely watched as she embarks on this pivotal role.
