Tragedy strikes in Belmont as innocent teen shot near Bronx zoo

In a shocking incident that unfolded in Belmont, a 15-year-old girl was shot in the buttocks around 6:45 p.m. on a bustling evening, just two blocks away from the renowned Bronx Zoo.

The young victim was promptly transported to Jacobi Hospital, where she is currently in stable condition.

Police sources indicate that the girl was not believed to have been the intended target of the gunfire. A relative of the victim revealed the harrowing circumstances, stating, “She was standing with a group of teens when the shooting started,” highlighting the randomness of the violence that erupted in the area.

As the investigation continues, law enforcement officials have confirmed that no arrests have been made at this time, leaving the community on edge and seeking answers to this alarming act of gun violence.
