Bronx: Alvin Ortiz fatally shot months after prison release

In a chilling incident outside a Bronx apartment building, 33-year-old Alvin Ortiz was fatally shot while sitting in a parked car, less than a year after being released from state prison, according to Comes in NYC.

According to a report, the shooting occurred around 1 a.m. as Ortiz sat in a black Hyundai alongside another man.

Their vehicle was approached by an Acura, from which two assailants fired five shots, hitting both men in the chest and left arm.

Ortiz, who had been paroled in February following a six-year sentence for weapons possession, was quickly transported to St. Barnabas Hospital by medics. Tragically, he was pronounced dead upon arrival. His criminal history was extensive, with 30 prior arrests, including six for gun possession.

The other man in the car, whose identity remains undisclosed, survived the attack and is currently in stable condition. He, too, was on parole, having been released last December after serving over a year for attempted weapons possession. His criminal record includes 32 arrests, with one gun-related charge.
