Bronx Borough President Gibson highlights community struggles at Cap the Cross Bronx Press conference

Bronx Borough President, Vanessa Gibson, has addressed the pressing issues surrounding the Cross Bronx Expressway.

Gibson addressed this during the recent Cap the Cross Bronx press conference.

Gibson emphasized the profound and lasting effects that the expressway has had on local communities, stating, “Earlier this week, we attended the Cap the Cross Bronx press conference, addressing the long-standing impacts of the Cross Bronx Expressway. For decades, it has divided communities, harmed public health, and reflected systemic environmental inequities.”

Her remarks shine a light on the urgent need for solutions to mitigate the negative consequences of the expressway, which has long been a source of division and health concerns for residents in the Bronx.

The press conference aimed to rally support and advocate for changes that would benefit the community and address the historical injustices tied to the expressway’s construction and presence.
