Amy Cole threatens divorce over husband’s decision to leave Yankees

Yankees ace Gerrit Cole has found himself in a tense situation with his wife, Amy Cole, over his recent decision to consider opting out of his contract with the team.

Sources have revealed that Amy threatened her husband with divorce if he chose to leave, escalating tensions in their North Caldwell, New Jersey home.

According to insiders, Amy discovered through social media platform X that Gerrit had contemplated opting out of his contract. Furious, she stormed into the couple’s pool house, where Gerrit had been staying after a series of recent disputes between them. In a heated confrontation, Amy issued an ultimatum to Gerrit: “Either tell his super agent Scott Boras the opt-out was off or move into their Lake Oscawana lake house for now. Not even the dog was going with him.”

The situation has left Gerrit in a precarious position. With the Yankees unwilling to extend his contract to void the opt-out clause, he faced the prospect of playing for rival teams such as the Mets, Red Sox, or Orioles—options that neither he nor Amy were keen on pursuing.

Amy’s concerns went beyond just Gerrit’s professional decisions; they also reflected her personal attachments. She expressed reluctance to leave North Caldwell, where she had forged close bonds with her cousin and his wife, who has become her best friend. The thought of fracturing those relationships added to the already high stakes of this marital standoff
