Trump appoints Alex Wong, Dr. Sebastian Gorka to key security positions

President Donald J. Trump announced the appointments of Alex Wong and Dr. Sebastian Gorka to key national security positions.

Wong will serve as Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy National Security Advisor, while Gorka returns as Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism. Both figures bring a wealth of experience and have long-standing ties to Trump’s America First agenda.

“I am pleased to announce that Alex Wong will be appointed Assistant to the President and Principal Deputy National Security Advisor, and Dr. Sebastian Gorka as Deputy Assistant to the President and Senior Director for Counterterrorism,” Trump stated, highlighting their extensive backgrounds and previous service.

Alex Wong: A Veteran Diplomat and Architect of the Free and Open Indo-Pacific Strategy

Wong’s career spans pivotal roles in Trump’s first term, including Deputy Special Representative for North Korea, where he played a significant role in negotiating Trump’s historic summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un. Additionally, Wong was instrumental in implementing the Free and Open Indo-Pacific Strategy during his tenure as Deputy Assistant Secretary for East Asian and Pacific Affairs.

Wong is a seasoned diplomat with an impressive academic background. He holds a Juris Doctor with high honors from Harvard Law School, where he served as Managing Editor of the Harvard Law Review, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania. Wong’s public service record includes roles as the Foreign Policy Advisor to Senator Tom Cotton and as Judicial and Anticorruption Advisor for the State Department in Iraq. Before entering government, he advised Fortune 100 clients on international trade and governmental investigations as a legal practitioner.

Dr. Sebastian Gorka: A Counterterrorism Strategist and America First Advocate

Dr. Gorka’s return to the White House marks a continuation of his steadfast advocacy for the MAGA movement and Trump’s America First policies. Gorka has over 30 years of experience in national security, including a tenure as Trump’s strategist during his first administration. His dedication to the movement began in 2015, where he advised Trump in the GOP primary debates on national security matters.

“Since 2015, Dr. Gorka has been a tireless advocate for the America First Agenda and the MAGA Movement,” Trump said, underscoring Gorka’s dedication. Gorka’s background includes holding the prestigious Major General Matthew G. Horner Chair of Military Theory at the Marine University Foundation and serving as an instructor at the JFK Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg.

In addition to his academic achievements, Gorka’s service in the defense community is distinguished. He has held roles such as Associate Dean for Congressional Affairs at National Defense University and received the Department of Defense Joint Civilian Service Commendation for his contributions to counterterrorism.
