Brooklyn homeless shelter worker fatally stabbed outside facility

“He ran for help but couldn’t be saved,” says witness

A 35-year-old Department of Homeless Services worker tragically lost his life on Thursday night after being fatally stabbed outside a homeless shelter in Brooklyn.

The attack occurred around 6:20 p.m. on East New York Avenue in Brownsville. According to reports, the victim was knifed multiple times outside the shelter. Despite his injuries, he managed to run inside the building to seek help, leaving a trail of blood in the lobby.

“He was bleeding heavily from his neck and abdomen,” said a staff member who witnessed the aftermath. Medics arrived quickly, but the victim’s injuries were too severe. He was transported to Brookdale Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

The NYPD has yet to make any arrests in connection with the incident. Authorities have not released details about the attacker or attackers, and the motive remains unclear.

The tragic incident has sparked concerns about the safety of shelter workers, who often face challenges in high-risk environments. The Department of Homeless Services has not yet commented on the fatal attack, but colleagues and community members are mourning the loss of a dedicated worker who served the city’s most vulnerable population.

Investigations are ongoing, and the NYPD is urging anyone with information to come forward.
