Bronx Cleanup Campaign Ends with Forum on Cleanliness and Crime Prevention

The Bronx has wrapped up its impactful “Don’t Dump on the Bronx” Summer Cleanup Series with a powerful closing ceremony and a community-centered dialogue on public safety and cleanliness.

Bronx Borough President Vanessa Gibson, in a statement shared on social media, highlighted the success of the initiative, which was capped off with the “Reduce Crime Together: Forum 2025”, hosted in partnership with ASEZ WAO at Bronx Borough Hall.

“We recently wrapped up our Don’t Dump on the Bronx Summer Cleanup Series with a powerful closing ceremony and community forum at Bronx Borough Hall,” Gibson wrote. “Together with ASEZ WAO, we hosted ‘Reduce Crime Together: Forum 2025’ to reflect on the connection between clean streets and safer neighborhoods, while also celebrating the incredible impact of this campaign.”

Throughout the summer campaign, a total of 248 volunteers participated in the cleanup efforts, removing over 4,360 pounds of waste, including 218 bags of trash and 11 bulk waste items, from Bronx neighborhoods.

The initiative aimed not only to beautify the borough but also to spark critical conversations on how environmental care can contribute to crime reduction and community well-being.

“This campaign shows what we can achieve when we come together as a community,” Gibson added.

The forum and cleanup series have been lauded as a model for citizen-led civic engagement and a testament to the transformative power of collective action.
