Bronx Borough President Vanessa L. Gibson has hailed the repurposing of the historic Bronx General Post Office into a new center for learning, training, and discovery, describing it as a landmark investment in the future of Bronx students.
In a statement on Wednesday, Gibson said the project demonstrates how space can be reimagined to empower local scholars and prepare them for careers in high-demand fields. “In these new labs and classrooms, students will gain the hands-on training they need to enter careers in health and science that are not only in high-demand but life-sustaining for their families,” she noted.
The new facility will provide pathways into careers such as nursing, radiology technology, and dental hygiene, with plans to introduce additional programs in surgical nursing, occupational therapy, surgical technology, and home health care.
Gibson expressed appreciation to Mayor Eric Adams, CUNY Chancellor Félix Matos Rodríguez, Hostos Community College President Dr. Daisy Cocco De Filippis, and the Maddd Equities team for their commitment to Bronx education and workforce development.
