Chaos in Times Square sparks outcry as Councilwoman Vickie Paladino blasts progressive policies

In a fiery critique of New York City’s current leadership, Councilwoman Vickie Paladino took to social media platform X to express her concerns about the state of public safety in Times Square.

Her remarks come amid a growing debate over the impact of progressive policies on crime and policing in the city.

“Meanwhile in Times Square… total chaos and lawlessness,” Paladino wrote, painting a picture of a city she believes is spiraling out of control.

Watch the chaos here.

“This is what a city run by progressives looks like. Criminals with no fear of consequences, because consequences have been completely removed by a city council and state legislature totally committed to de-policing, with zero concern for public order or safety.”

Paladino’s comments highlight a contentious issue facing New York City: the balance between reforming law enforcement practices and maintaining public safety. Critics of recent legislative changes argue that efforts to reduce police presence have emboldened criminal activity, while supporters assert that these measures are necessary to address systemic injustices.

The councilwoman’s warning was stark: “Think it can’t get worse? You’d be very wrong. A new group of far-left radicals are preparing to take the mayor’s office and promise to make the DeBlasio era look like a golden age in comparison to what they have planned.”
