Big wins for Bronx commuters as new elevators, upgrades transform Westchester Square station

Accessibility and infrastructure received a significant boost in the Bronx as Council Member Amanda Farias celebrated the completion of transformative upgrades at the Westchester Sq-E Tremont Av 6 subway station.

“Big wins for accessibility and infrastructure in the Bronx and District 18!” Farias announced.

“With the completion of three new elevators and major upgrades at the Westchester Sq-E Tremont Av 6 station, we’re making transit more inclusive and safer for all New Yorkers.”

The upgrades mark a major milestone in the city’s commitment to improving public transportation for all residents, including those with mobility challenges. The newly installed elevators aim to make the station more accessible while other enhancements prioritize commuter safety and convenience.

Council Member Farias expressed pride in spearheading this initiative, emphasizing the importance of investing in community infrastructure and supporting the workers behind these projects. “Proud to champion this investment in our community and support the workers building our city’s future,” she added.

Farias also hinted at more improvements on the horizon, promising continued investments in infrastructure to further enhance transit access across the district.
