Fake repairmen steal $30,000 in daring Bronx daylight robbery

Police are on the hunt for two cunning thieves who posed as repairmen to execute a meticulously planned robbery.

The duo managed to abscond with a safe containing a hefty $30,000 from a Melrose apartment, leaving behind a trail of fear and unanswered questions.

The incident unfolded on the afternoon of September 20, when the unsuspecting victim, a 43-year-old resident of Courtlandt Ave. near E.150th St., was approached by two men claiming to be repairmen.

Intending to address a supposed leak in his apartment, the victim opened the door, only to be thrust into a terrifying ordeal. One of the impostors swiftly pressed a knife to his throat, while the other restrained him using duct tape.

With the victim subdued, the thieves proceeded to break into a locked room using a crowbar, where they discovered a safe loaded with cash. In a matter of moments, they vanished with the safe, an iPad, and a passport, leaving the victim physically unharmed but undoubtedly shaken.

The NYPD is actively seeking any leads that could help bring these criminals to justice. Authorities urge anyone with information on this brazen act to reach out to the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at (800) 577-TIPS.
