“The Right Person in the Right Place” — Bill Bratton praises NYC new police commissioner

Former NYPD Commissioner Bill Bratton has lauded Mayor Eric Adams’ selection of Jessie Tisch as the new leader of New York’s Finest, calling her appointment a perfectly timed decision for the department.

“Congratulations to Mayor Adams on his excellent appointment to lead NY’s Finest,” Bratton wrote. “If ever there was a right time for the right person in the right place, the appointment of Jessie Tisch as NYC Police Commissioner would be it.”

Bratton highlighted Tisch’s extensive experience and expertise, noting her transformative role during her 12-year tenure at the NYPD as Deputy Commissioner of Information and Technology. Under her guidance, the department embraced advancements like crime-fighting smartphones and body-worn cameras, positioning the NYPD at the forefront of policing technology.

“Jessie will undoubtedly restore confidence in the NYPD as her managerial skills are extraordinary,” Bratton emphasized, underscoring her commitment to modernization.

Following her work with the NYPD, Tisch applied her tech-savvy management skills to New York’s Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications and the Sanitation Department, ensuring each agency leveraged cutting-edge technology to serve New Yorkers effectively.

“I’m very confident in her capabilities, as should every New Yorker feel the same,” Bratton concluded.

With Tisch at the helm, many hope for renewed trust and modernization in the NYPD’s operations, promising a data-driven approach to addressing crime and improving public safety across the city.
