NYC Council Member Farias, Caribbean Equality Project distribute over 1,000 turkeys, other Items to families in need

In a heartwarming show of community spirit, New York City Council Member Amanda Farias joined forces with the Caribbean Equality Project and several local organizations to ensure families could celebrate Thanksgiving with all the essentials.

Reflecting on the success of the event, Farias shared, “Another year in the books and this was bigger, and better than ever! Our annual Thanksgiving Distribution with the Caribbean Equality Project was a huge success!”

The annual event provided over 1,050 turkeys, 200 halal chickens, and a bounty of Thanksgiving fixings, bringing holiday cheer to families across the community. Farias credited the successful distribution to the support of key partners, including Phipps Neighborhoods, New York Common Pantry, Albanian American Open Hands, Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and Laborers Fight Back Local 79. She expressed her gratitude to the 140 dedicated volunteers, stating, “Thank you to our partners… and all our 140 volunteers for your efforts in helping to fill the tables of our neighbors.”

Through collaborative efforts, the event underscored the importance of unity and giving back, bringing joy and relief to many households.
