Bally’s courts community support for Casino, Entertainment Complex in Bronx

By Robert Press

Bally’s Corporation is actively seeking community backing for its ambitious $3–4 billion casino, hotel, and entertainment complex at the former Trump Links golf course, now Bally’s Links, in the Bronx.

During a presentation at the Morris Park Community Association, the Bally’s team outlined their plans for transforming the site into a premier entertainment destination.

Leading the Bally’s delegation was Chris Hewlett, joined by consultants including former State Senator Jeff Klein and Bronx Democratic Party attorney Stanley Schlein, a key figure in the development of Yankee Stadium. Hewlett shared the vision for the project, emphasizing its scale and potential economic benefits.

“This will be a three to four billion dollar investment in the Bronx,” Hewlett announced. The project will include a 500-room hotel, a 4,500-space parking facility, and a 2,000-square-foot entertainment center.

Hewlett also highlighted plans for infrastructure improvements to support the development, including a new overpass near Lafayette Avenue to enhance accessibility. Additionally, a substation for the 45th ooPrecinct is planned to ensure safety and security for the site.

The project’s location involves 15.7 acres of parkland, a decision that has drawn scrutiny but is being positioned as essential to the development’s success. “When Bally’s took over the golf course, it had expectations of building a casino on the site,” Hewlett explained.

The presentation is part of Bally’s ongoing effort to win over local stakeholders and address community concerns about the project. The company and its consultants are engaging with various community groups to gather feedback and demonstrate the benefits of the development, from job creation to economic revitalization.

As discussions continue, Bally’s aims to secure the support needed to make the Bronx home to one of its most significant investments yet.
