Bronx BP Gibson Mourns Youth Deaths, Condemns Violent Attacks

The Bronx Borough President, Vanessa Gibson, has expressed deep sorrow over a series of tragic incidents involving children in different parts of the borough, describing the losses as devastating and heartbreaking for the entire community.

In a statement, Gibson said the Bronx is “heartbroken and in mourning” over the death of a 15-year-old boy and the injuries sustained by a 14-year-old during a violent attack in Eastchester, as well as the passing of a four-year-old girl in Williamsbridge. She noted that the incidents have cast a dark cloud over the borough, particularly during the holiday season.

“These tragic situations are any family’s worst nightmare and have left us all devastated, especially during the holiday season,” Gibson said, emphasizing the emotional toll the events have had on residents across the Bronx.

The Borough President called on members of the public to show empathy and solidarity as authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incidents. “As we await more information, we ask that everyone please keep the family and loved ones of these youth in their prayers during this incredibly difficult time,” she added.

Gibson also acknowledged the efforts of first responders and medical personnel who acted swiftly during the emergencies. She praised their professionalism and compassion in the face of distressing situations.

“I also want to thank the NYPD, emergency personnel, and hospital staff for responding with care and compassion under these heartbreaking circumstances,” she said.

Authorities are expected to release further details as investigations into the incidents continue, while community leaders and residents continue to mourn the loss of young lives and pray for the recovery of those injured.
