NYC Health Dept Celebrates Pride Month with TGNCNB Health Summit, Citywide Outreach

The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene has launched its Pride Month celebration with renewed support for LGBTQ+ communities, including the successful hosting of its second Transgender, Gender Nonconforming, and Non-Binary (TGNCNB) Health Summit.

“NYC would not be the great city it is without the contributions and leadership of LGBTQ+ New Yorkers, and we are honored to celebrate Pride with them all throughout June,” said Acting Health Commissioner Dr. Michelle Morse.

“We are committed to ensure that every individual has access to the care they need and deserve.”

Throughout June, the Department will join major Pride events across the city—such as Queens Pride, Harlem Pride, and the NYC Pride March—distributing free safer sex products and health materials.

The May 20 TGNCNB Health Summit highlighted inclusive programs and featured community-led discussions, city agency collaborations, and presentations on TGNCNB health research.

Dr. Carla Smith, CEO of The Center, praised the Department’s leadership: “At a time when jurisdictions are bending to political pressure, the NYC Health Department’s continued support and celebration of LGBTQ+ people and organizations like The Center are a constant reminder that our health, safety, and prosperity will always matter.”

Additional guidance on mental health, safer sex, drug use safety, and LGBTQ+-affirming care is available at nyc.gov/sexualhealth and through the NYC Health Map.
