Through a “creative aging” philosophy, the process encouraged Coler’s elderly residents to engage in artistic expression, fostering a sense of inclusion and joy throughout the project.
“The mural-making process embraced a creative aging approach, with the Coler community playing an active role in its creation,” shared NYC Health + Hospitals, highlighting the therapeutic benefits of art in enhancing patient experiences.
Surrounding Fable Vine are additional pieces from the historic Arts in Medicine collection, selected in partnership with Forrer to enrich the mural space. This curated collection transforms the area into a vibrant and inviting environment for all, making it a warm and uplifting space for patients, visitors, and staff alike.
The Community Mural Project and Fable Vine mural have been made possible through the generous support of the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund, a foundation dedicated to fostering public access to arts and health programs across New York City
