The New York Police Department (NYPD) has reported that members and associates of Tren de Aragua (TdA) were arrested 517 times citywide from the beginning of the year through early October. Notably, a staggering 57% of these arrests—295 in total—occurred in Midtown Manhattan.
The NYPD has identified 41 full members of the Tren de Aragua, who collectively have amassed an alarming 143 arrests since January. This troubling trend highlights the gang’s significant presence in the city, particularly in central Manhattan, where nearly 48% of the arrests involving these identified members took place across eight central precincts.
Law enforcement officials suspect that the numbers may be even higher, estimating that there are over 200 additional members of Tren de Aragua who have yet to be documented.
This revelation underscores the ongoing challenges facing the NYPD as they work to combat gang violence and maintain public safety in New York City.
As the department continues its efforts to address the growing influence of Tren de Aragua, the focus remains on not only reducing crime rates but also dismantling the networks that allow such organizations to thrive within the urban landscape.
