Harlem stabbing suspect linked to multiple knife-related arrests, sources reveal

Jaia Cruz, the suspect accused of fatally stabbing a postal worker over a dispute in a Harlem deli, has a troubling history of knife-related violence, according to law enforcement sources.

Cruz, who allegedly carried out the brutal attack on Thursday, has been arrested at least five times in connection with violent incidents involving blades.

Bronx Post correspondent gathered that in one notable case from July 2020, Cruz was reportedly caught brandishing an open box cutter and shouting threats at another individual in Midtown West.

Witnesses claim Cruz declared, “I’m going to cut him,” sparking a tense confrontation. When officers arrived, Cruz allegedly resisted commands to get on the ground, leading to a scuffle before being subdued and arrested under the name “Alvin Cruz” for resisting arrest.

The latest incident has raised questions about Cruz’s past behavior and how it may have escalated to such a tragic outcome. Law enforcement officials continue to investigate both the stabbing and Cruz’s extensive criminal record.
