Fans of Timothée Chalamet were treated to a thrilling surprise when the Hollywood heartthrob himself appeared at a look-alike contest dedicated to him in New York City’s Washington Square Park.
The event, which had gained significant traction online after fliers were circulated throughout Manhattan, promised an afternoon of fun and friendly competition among doppelgängers of the “Dune” star.
The atmosphere was electric as dozens of Chalamet look-alikes, each sporting the actor’s signature floppy hair and defined cheekbones, gathered to vie for the top spot. Spectators, numbering in hundreds, crowded the park’s iconic arch, eager to witness the spectacle. However, the event faced an unexpected halt when NYPD officers and Parks Department personnel intervened, citing the lack of permits.

This led to the arrest of one individual and a $500 fine for the event’s organizer, YouTuber Anthony Po. Undeterred, Po rallied the crowd, leading a march to Mercer Playground, where the contest resumed.
Among the eager participants was Vincent Panetta, who made the journey from Vermont armed with a peach, ready to reenact a memorable scene from “Call Me By Your Name.”
“People tell me I look like Timothée Chalamet. People also tell me I look like Bob Dylan and he’s playing Bob Dylan in a new upcoming movie, so I threw my hat in the ring, so to say,” Panetta quipped.
The contest’s winner, 21-year-old Miles Mitchell from Staten Island, captured the audience’s hearts with his whimsical Willy Wonka attire, complete with a purple coat and brown top hat. His victory was met with thunderous applause, and when given a moment to address the crowd, Mitchell made a poignant statement: “Free Palestine.”
But the true highlight of the day was Chalamet’s own appearance. Arriving with a bodyguard, his presence sent ripples of excitement through the crowd, his real-life charm and striking features setting him apart from even his most convincing imitators. One fan, Skylar Moody, expressed her admiration, saying, “He just has this charm to him that I feel like everyone falls in love with. He’s a very iconic fashion icon and I look up to him in so many ways. Maybe I’ll find a couple of lookalikes that are single and available.”
Mitchell walked away with a $50 prize and a comically large dummy check, but more importantly, he and the other participants shared a unique, unforgettable experience with their idol, leaving fans and look-alikes alike buzzing with joy.
